Sioux Falls, SD

Day 6 - 8, August 27 - 29

Fulltime RVing

I’ve listened to mom and dad have a few conversations so far with neighbors that ask such things as “do you homeschool?” “Are you vacationing?” etc. When their reply is “well, we are fulltime RVing” The next question is usually “for how long?” I have to laugh on the inside because their next answer is “just a little over a week”. Bahahaha. The conversation usually continues “Have you ever owned an RV?” “Nope, we just sold everything and jumped right in.” OK, maybe we are a little crazy. Yes, we are new and have a ton to learn but you have to start somewhere....right? Who knows where this journey will lead us but we are open to whatever the Lord has for us.

Getting Real

Sioux Falls was a resting stop for us on our way to Mount Rushmore but turned out to be a great stop. It was our ride here that this thing started feeling real. The landscape changed and we were no longer in familiar territory. I think the speed limit sign was one of the first "signs." I guess riding in the litter box under the seat is my reality.

The pictures don’t do the cascades of Big Sioux River any justice. It was beautiful. We enjoyed our first evening roaming around the park there enjoying the falls and of course catching Pokémon.

Waking up the Park

We spent two nights at Jellystone RV park, this was my brother’s favorite campground so far. The bounce pillow was a hit. Mom and Dad tried it out too. It didn’t go so well for Dad. Let’s just say he never made it on with both feet. School work was accomplished but we are discovering finding a good Wi-Fi connection can be challenging. My brothers took breaks from school work by riding bikes around the camp ground, bouncing on the pillow and swimming in the pool.

I waited till about midnight to pull my shenanigans. I tried waking up the park by sitting on the steering wheel air horn. Josiah quickly moved me once he realized I was making all the noise. Did I mention this was a learning process? The last night we were there, we realized we were only minutes away from the Minnesota border. We loaded up the jeep and headed straight for the nearest town to add it to the list of states we have never been in before. We found a small community, Beaver Creek, that looked just like home. We had driven a thousand miles to end up in Qulin. Oh yeah, I also became best friends with this bear named Yogi, in fact check out our picture we took together.
