RV PURCHASE

My family brought the RV home Thursday night. They had an opportunity to pray for the business manager during the transaction. The whole family crammed into his office and prayed for his daughter who had an appointment at the local Children’s Hospital later that day. They were touched by the opportunity that the Lord had already presented them. Meet our new home, 2008 Astoria Damon.

Before the ride. We took no after pictures.

THE DRIVE HOME

I got to hear about the ride home from my brothers. According to Jeremiah I was “lucky” to have been left behind for this experience. They picked up the RV just outside of Columbus, Ohio. So the first hour of the ride was extremely intense as Dad learned how to navigate this beast in city traffic. With mom and dad on edge, they didn’t notice that the air conditioner in the back quit working. The sun was heating up the ginormous window in the front creating what seemed to be a beach front experience without the sand or water only extreme heat. Jeremiah’s quote of the day “I thought this was supposed to be luxurious,” summed up the insufferable event. The eight-hour drive home was less than prrrfect. They pulled into mawmaw and pawpaw’s driveway about midnight. The air conditioner issue ended up just being a flipped breaker.

LOCKED OUT

The next morning mom was anxious to start moving our stuff into our new home. She jumped in the RV to turn on the generator to cool it down for loading. She unlocks the door, lays the keys down, starts the generator and shuts the door only to lock the keys inside.

Four hours later with a help of a locksmith we began loading the motorhome. My brother Jeremiah put me in my carrier and load me into our new home so that I can get acclimated to the new place before we take off.

When they let me out to sniff out this new place I let them know loudly that this is all concerning to me. They piled up their belongings into the RV and drive it over to my other set of grandparents’ place before dark. Papa already had us a full RV hookup ready. Here we prepped for our journey. I hate the noise of the engine, the movement as it traveled down the roads and the bumps. When that diesel engine first started up I ran and hid in the best spot I could find. My family forgot I was the house champion of hide-and-go-seek.

LUCKY TO MIRACLE

When we arrived at Grandma and Papa’s I’m hid so well they cannot find me and I’m not coming out till I know things are safe. Dad is busy outside hooking us up, mom is busy moving stuff around and my brothers are giving our cousin Ella the tour of what she calls the bus house. I figure this name will probably stick as the official name for the RV. This is a picture of Ella & I, she scares me most of the time.

Earlier I heard mom say, “We are not moving the slides before we find Lucky.” I was very much counting on this statement. The next thing I know the slideout is moving and this happens to be my hiding spot. So as you can imagine the next 60 seconds was probably the most horrifying experience of my life as I’m being pushed by these hydraulics to my definite death. I scream as my paw is under the slide and they are crushing me. Josiah yells to stop. I’m pretty sure my brothers will not forget that horrifying image anytime soon. The slide stops and then comes back the other direction giving me sweet relief. Josiah reached in under the slide to find me. I could feel his hand and he tried to drag me out but I was traumatized so I wasn’t going anywhere. Mom tried next with same result. I heard her tell the family that I was neither fighting nor helping so I must be hurt. Next Dad tries and that’s when I hear the family start praying for me. I could tell everyone was upset and I wasn’t the only one traumatized. So as dad decides to pull the baseboard off to get to me, I decide to come on out. There was praise and relief on everyone’s faces. I played it real cool like I had been taking a nap. Mom said "maybe we should change Lucky's name to Miracle." So with relief in the air they leave me in the RV and they sleep in grandma’s because there are no beds made for them yet in the bus house.

THE FLOOD

Mom placed my litter box in the shower, made sure I had food and water and then took off. Little did they know that in the chaos of my demise dad hooked the water line up to the black tank (poop tank) clean out. So early Saturday morning mom finds water in the basement (storage area under the RV) while she is getting the boys ready for the trip to Six Flags with the church. She comes inside to find where the water is coming from. My litter box is floating in the shower. (by the way I couldn’t use it like that) The litter was dry but water in the floor and there was soaked carpet in the back room. Water was pushing up through the gray and black tanks all night long. What a mess! On top of that, it begins to rain outside and would continue for the next 6 days. It took three days just to dry up things with fans because you couldn’t open windows or doors. We overcame and we conquered! The rest of the family moved in and we started making it our home. The sunshine was much welcomed when it came out on the 7th day. Here we are fully loaded leaving Tuesday August 23, 2016 for our new adventures. Here's to praying for no more CATastrophes and keeping our ears and eyes open to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
